  • What can I do if I get a scratch on my wood flooring?

Getting a scratch out of wood flooring is easy.

Sand the floor back until you can't see the scratch any more, and then reseal the floor for a lovely, clean finish. This can often be done several times at no detriment to the integrity of your floors.

  • Will my vinyl flooring dent?

Unfortunately, it might. Vinyl flooring is hard-wearing and resilient, however isn't great with very heavy loads or with sharp objects. The best way to prevent tears, scratches and dents from furniture is to use floor protectors when moving heavy objects.

Vinyl planks and tiles are also subject to fading with a high level of sun exposure.

  • How do I patch vinyl flooring?

When torn, vinyl flooring can be easily patched with offcuts of the same pattern. Here is a simple step-by-step process:

    • Cut a patch of vinyl flooring slightly bigger than the section you need patched
    • Align and adhere the new section over the damaged flooring with double sided tape
    • Using a straight edge and retractable knife, cut through both layers of vinyl. For best results, use an existing line in the pattern, such as a grout line
    • Mark the top edge of the new section & adjacent tile, before pulling up the new section, removing the tape and setting it aside
    • Carefully begin removing the damaged section, starting from the middle for the best results
    • Apply seam adhesive around the edges of the opening before inserting the new section of vinyl, ensuring it's aligned properly
    • Use a hand roller to ensure the new piece is fully bonded and remove any excess adhesive with a damp cloth

  • How do I look after blinds?

We recommend giving blinds a dust on a regular basis to avoid dirt build up—simply wipe them down with a damp cloth. With fabric blinds, such as roller and vertical blinds, you may also use small amounts of detergent.

Take care not to use excess water when cleaning wooden venetian blinds, as this may damage the timber.

  • Can carpets be installed on top of under-floor heating?

Yes, provided the heated slab flooring doesn't exceed 27°C. The slab should be off for at least 24 hours before attempting to lay carpet on top of it.

The carpet will then act as an insulator, retaining the heat underfoot long after the heating system has turned off. For more information, call us today.
